This policy explains what information HowPronounceIt (“we”, “us”) collects when you use howpronounceit.com, and how it is used. We collect as little as we can.

Information stored on your device

The site stores a few settings in your browser's local storage: your theme, accent, voice and speed choices, the words you save to My Words, and your cookie choice. This information never leaves your device and we cannot see it. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Information our servers receive

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any website, our hosting provider processes technical data needed to deliver pages, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages or audio files requested. This data is used to run, secure and protect the service, for example to limit abuse of the audio feature, and is kept only as long as needed for those purposes.

When you play a word, your browser requests an audio file for that word. The words you look up are not linked to your identity.

Analytics and advertising

We may use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads that keep the site free. These services only load after you accept them in the cookie banner. If you accept, Google may set cookies and process data such as your IP address and device identifiers as described in Google's policy for partner sites. Ads may be personalized based on your activity unless you turn this off at Google Ad Settings. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Email

If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply and to improve the site. We do not sell or share it.

Children

The site is suitable for learners of all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests can be met by clearing your browser data. For anything else, contact hello@howpronounceit.com.

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
